| The following Tutorials will show
you how to make and use PSP7's Custom brushes. They are fun, easy
and will bring many new and beautiful graphics to use for your webpages
and stationery. It will be done in several steps so first lets begin
on downloading a few brushes. Unzip these Brushes to your PSP/Brushes folder.
My Brush for this tutorial:
Brush 5: preview|download
Now lets go and find our newly downloaded
brushes:
Pick two colors you want to base
your header on a lighter one and a darker one
Open a new image - 1024x150
with background of image the lighter shade of the color you chose.

Now select your paint brush tool,
and go to the tool options window. See the little brush with the
arrow? (I have circle it in red) select that and click on custom.
Select the brush you want to use. I choose a flower I made, and tubed,
then made into a brush. Keep the settings at
Size: 211
Opacity: 100
Step: 25
Add a new layer. Layers>New
Raster Layer
And place your paint brush near
the left side. I made sure my cursor was at (97,75) then click once.

You should have something like the picture
above. Now using your selection tool, with it set on rectangle, feather
0 antialias double click on selection and add these numbers, (or draw it
out, like I tend to do.)
Left 1
Top 95
Right 1023
Bottom 135
Add a new Raster Layer, change opacity
to 52.
Now go to you forground color and
select gradient. Double click on forground color to bring up Gradient
Options. A Linear Gradient with these settings. Angle 90 Repeat
0. Then choose Edit. You should have these settings.
(I am still trying to learn all the effects of gradient but these are the
settings I have)

Now flood fill your selected area with
the gradient (settings normal, none, opacity 100). Add new Raster
layer with the opacity at 100.
Go to Selections>modify>expand> 1
Set your forground color back to
solid, and flood fill solid with same settings as gradient fill.
Go to Selctions>modify>contract>1
and hit the delete key. This is your first header. Add text
in the light band across the middle and you're in business.
